Welcome, everyone! After a weekend off, we’re back together for rehearsal on Sunday. Again, we’re meeting at Worx Gym, 290 Ninth St NE, East Wenatchee from noon-3:00 pm. (And by “we,” I mean “you”; I’ll be at Ocean Shores judging the Miss Grays Harbor competition. There will be a full slate of great people leading your rehearsal this week.)
Our numbers are complete since the deadline for registration has passed. We hope to greet Faith Shipman (who registered two weeks ago) and Maria Vasquez (who registered this week) on Sunday.
We’ll take some time this Sunday to learn our opening number choreography. Andrea Locke will lead us in learning this fun number.
We’ll also have a wonderful opportunity to meet Miss East Cascades 2018, Melanie Garza! She’s going to speak about her experience and answer any questions you might have.
We’re going to assign candidate numbers this Sunday, too — so you’ll know moving forward the order in which you’ll be competing!
How is your Children’s Miracle Network fundraising going? Use the tools on your profile page to share on FB and Instagram; that will help. A good rule of thumb is to start with those closest to you (family, close friends, fellow students or work associates) and move out from there. Same goes with your Applebees ticket sales: do what you can but don’t be anxious about what you can’t.
Let’s review deadlines!
Sunday, February 23:
First drafts of your resume and social impact statement. (Directions and examples are in your notebook.) You can print them off and bring with you on Sunday, or you can email them to me at gahesse@gmail.com.
Sunday, March 1:
- Program ads (graphics and text)
- Final drafts of resume and social impact statement
- Letter of Acceptance and Understanding; Contract. These need to be signed in the presence of a notary. (We will have a notary at our March 1 rehearsal so we can take care of this at that time.) You do not yet have a copy of the contract because it has not yet been provided to us by the Miss America Organization. We’ll provide it to you as soon as we have it.
- Talent and Social Impact freezes. (In other words, you will need to lock in the talent you will share, and the social impact initiative you will promote, by that date.)
That pretty much wraps it up for this week. I’m so proud of each of you, and thankful you’re working hard to make this a great experience. If you’re finding this process challenging, that’s OK. Know we’re available to help you succeed. With that in mind, have a great week!
