Hello, everyone!
Lots of news to share with you today, so I’m writing this in newsletter form instead of trying to stuff it all in a text or email.
I’m starting out with some really good news: we have an eighth candidate! Faith Shipman will be joining us on the journey together. She’s a CWU student majoring in biochemistry. I’ve added her to our text message group, so you can reach out and say hello.
More good news! The Miss East Cascades board met today and decided to add another scholarship! In addition to recognition on competition night for the candidate with the highest amount in program ad sales, we will now provide that candidate with a scholarship equal to 10% of all the ad sales received!
That works similarly to People’s Choice, where you receive one vote per dollar donated either online on the People’s Choice page, or in person during intermission of the competition on March 21. The candidate with the most votes/dollars receives a scholarship in the amount of HALF of all People’s Choice donations. (That page will be activated in a week or so.)
As you know, we have a professional photographer volunteering to take your headshots. Would you please take a moment, if you haven’t already done so, to call or text her to confirm the appointment slot she’s assigned? This is a significant gift on her part and we want to honor that by firming up her schedule. Thanks. Lynette’s phone number is 509-679-3499.
This might also serve as good news: I’ve reviewed our deadlines and I think they may be a bit too ambitious. If you can make the original deadlines, that’s a good thing for you! However, I’ve pushed a few items back a week. The new dates are reflected in a list I’m sending to you separately.
By the way, I’m always looking for the best way to communicate with you to help you focus on what needs doing without overwhelming you with too much all at once. So, let’s experiment with a checklist. I’m sending that to you via email; if you find it helpful, let me know. If it simply makes you more anxious, toss it and use the tools which work best for you. Deal?
If you’re heading to Spokane or Seattle this weekend to watch their competitions, have fun! Take it all in and realize each of those candidates have gone what you’re going through in preparing for that special moment. They made it: so will you!
