Welcome to the Miss East Cascades 2020 family! We’re excited to have you along on the journey with us! We’re still a few weeks from getting underway, but I wanted to drop you a quick note of introduction before we get started in earnest.
I’m Gary Hesse, Executive Director of the Miss East Cascades Scholarship Organization. I’m retired, but most recently worked as a web designer with The Wenatchee World, and I’ve been an actor with Leavenworth Summer Theater for 22 seasons. I’ve been married to my wife Margy for 44 years, and we have twin sons and four grandsons.
Important news! Our orientation meeting will be at noon on Sunday, February 2. We’ll be in the conference room at Van Well Nursery, 2821 Grant Rd, East Wenatchee, WA. Bring your enthusiasm and your questions — if you need anything else, we’ll let you know! Parents are welcome to this meeting. Our current titleholder will be there to give you the inside scoop on all you want to know.
For some of you, this will be your first such competition and you may have questions about what to expect. Be sure to check out the rest of this website, especially the About the Competition and FAQ pages. We try to answer some of the basic questions there.
Until then, don’t hesitate to get in touch about any part of the MEC experience. Contact me here:

One more thing: it’s not too late to invite a friend or two to come along! They’ll get scholarship money, too, and you get to enjoy the experience together.
We’ve got a great tribe of volunteers standing by to make this an enjoyable, successful experience for you. See you soon!
