Become a Teen Candidate

We are thrilled that you would like to become a member of our Class of 2026. As an official local Preliminary to the Miss Washington program, we are excited to help you on your journey through the Miss America Organization..

Teen contestants must be between the ages of 14 -17 Must be 14 by first day of state competition week and no older than 17 at state competition. (For reference, the state competition is the third week of June 2026.)

To Become a Contestant You Must

Work, School or Residency

Reside, work or attend school in the local areas of Chelan, Douglas County or in a county east of the Cascades Mountains. 

Citizenship

Be a United States citizen.

Age Eligibility

Be 14-18, no older than 18 on the first day of Teen state competition week. And no older than 27 on the first day of Miss WA state competition week.

Able to Fulfil the Role

Be in reasonably good health to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities that accompany the title.

Be A Role Model

Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.

Contestant must meet all additional requirements pursuant to the Miss America State and Local Application & Agreement.

Our Teen and Miss contestants will compete in the following phases:


PRIVATE INTERVIEW:


(Miss: 10 Minutes, Teen: 8 Minutes)Candidates are scored on overall first impression, professional appearance, personality, intelligence, articulation and ability to form an opinion, while confidently conversing with our panel of judges.

HEALTH & FITNESS:


In your 20 seconds fitness modeling poses, Judges will be looking for posture, grace, a sense of confidence, presence and personality. Contestants will wear REBEL Athletic. click here to view options: Miss America Organization – Rebel Athletic.


TALENT (90 seconds):


TALENT (90 seconds):

Candidates are scored on their entertainment value, technical skill, personality, interpretive ability, entertainment and stage presence. Props are allowed but must be approved by the Director. Additional information and guidance will be provided for this and all phases of competition.

EVENING GOWN


Contestants are scored in this competition based on their sense of confidence, personality and stage presence, appropriateness of attire, posture and elegance.

ON STAGE QUESTIONS

Contestants will wear their opening production number outfits for this phase, and are judged on their ability to formulate a clear opinion and articulate their thoughts to the audience within their 20-seconds answer.

National Scholarship Awards Announced for 2024 Miss America’s/Miss America’s Teen Competitions!

2024 Miss America’s Scholarship Awards Announced for Miss America and Miss America’s Teen National Competitions

ORLANDO, FL (Dec 7, 2023) –  Miss America Headquarters announces over $250,000k in tuition scholarships to be awarded at the 2024 Miss America & Miss America’s Teen National Competitions taking place in the beautiful city of Orlando.  All preliminary and finals competition events will be held from January 8th – January 14th, with competitions in the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center, and the new talent preliminary “Miss America’s Got Talent” held at the Hard Rock Live at Universal’s City Walk.

The Miss America and Miss America’s Teen scholarship awards are administered by the Miss America’s Scholarship Foundation Inc., (MASF) a 501(c)(3). The MASF is a ZERO administrative fees foundation, and 100% of your donation goes to tuition-only scholarships for women across America.

Each year Miss America, the 100+ year old iconic brand and competition event awards more than five (5) million dollars in tuition scholarships to young women nationwide and millions more in-kind through local/state and national events.  The new 2024 Miss America wins the opportunity to travel America as the brand ambassador and will be awarded $60,000 in tuition scholarship, an increase from previous years. Miss America’s Teen 2024 will also be awarded her choice of either $60,000 in tuition scholarship to an accredited school of her choosing, or may elect a four-year scholarship at the University of Alabama, home to the TikTok famous “Bama Rush”. 

The 2024 Miss America AND the 2024 Miss America’s Teen winners scholarship awards have been increased to $60,000 each for 2024, and coupled with the finalist awards of $10,000 each, for a total of $100,000 awarded to the top five finalists on stage for Saturday Miss America’s Teen Finals, and Sunday’s Miss America’s finals. In addition, both Miss/Teen preliminary night awards of $3000 will be awarded to for three (3) preliminary awards in fitness, evening gown and talent – a total of $54,000, a Community Service scholarship will be awarded to one Miss America state delegate and one Miss America’s Teen state delegate on the preliminary stages for their commitment to their select community service initiative in the amount of $5000 tuition scholarship for a total of $10,000. The Miss America and Miss America’s Teen scholarship awards are administered by the new Miss America’s Scholarship Foundation Inc., (MASF) a 501(c)(3).  If you would like to donate to the MASF use the DONATION link.  The MASF is a zero administrative fees foundations, and 100% of your donations goes to tuition only scholarships for women across America.

Along with other signature events,  the Receptions/Visitations will be held for credentialed guests Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9pm-11pm following the preliminary competitions at the host hotel.

The Tuesday Visitation Reception is sponsored by the Official Fitness Partner Rebel Athletic and will showcase the Miss America’s Teen three (3) preliminary  winners of fitness, and evening gown, who are each be awarded $3000 in scholarship, for a total of $18,000 in scholarship awarded on stage earlier that evening.

Wednesday’s Visitation Reception will highlight the launch of the new Miss America branded publication “Officially HER Magazine” and showcase the Miss America’s three (3) preliminary winners of fitness and evening gown, each earning $3000 in scholarship, for a total of $18,000 in scholarship awarded on stage that night.

Thursday’s Visitation Reception theme is “Hard Rock’N’Roses”  immediately following the new preliminary dinner talent show, “Miss America’s Got Talent” at the Hard Rock Live in Universal’s CityWalk and will recognize the Miss America and Miss America’s Teen talent winners, three each, earning $3000 in scholarship for a total of $18,000.
