To Become a Contestant You Must

Work, School or Residency

Reside, work or attend school in the local areas of Chelan, Douglas County or in a county east of the Cascades Mountains.

Citizenship

Be a United States citizen.

Age Eligibility

Be 14-18, no older than 18 on the first day of Teen state competition week. And no older than 27 on the first day of Miss WA state competition week.

Be in reasonably good health to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities that accompany the title.

Contestant must meet all additional requirements pursuant to the Miss America State and Local Application & Agreement.

Our Teen and Miss contestants will compete in the following phases:

PRIVATE INTERVIEW:

(Miss: 10 Minutes, Teen: 8 Minutes)Candidates are scored on overall first impression, professional appearance, personality, intelligence, articulation and ability to form an opinion, while confidently conversing with our panel of judges.

HEALTH & FITNESS:

In your 20 seconds fitness modeling poses, Judges will be looking for posture, grace, a sense of confidence, presence and personality. Contestants will wear REBEL Athletic. click here to view options: Miss America Organization – Rebel Athletic.

TALENT (90 seconds):

TALENT (90 seconds):

Candidates are scored on their entertainment value, technical skill, personality, interpretive ability, entertainment and stage presence. Props are allowed but must be approved by the Director. Additional information and guidance will be provided for this and all phases of competition.

EVENING GOWN

Contestants are scored in this competition based on their sense of confidence, personality and stage presence, appropriateness of attire, posture and elegance.

ON STAGE QUESTIONS

Contestants will wear their opening production number outfits for this phase, and are judged on their ability to formulate a clear opinion and articulate their thoughts to the audience within their 20-seconds answer.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., January 6, 2023 — Miss America, the iconic 100+ year brand, and Rebel Athletic partner to bring Fitness back to the competition stage in a showcase of athleticism and energy! Fitness has returned to the stage as a competitive event, featuring each delegate in sports and athletic attire, gym shoes and high energy fitness routine on stage, accompanied by live-action videos showcasing each delegate’s journey to fitness and a healthier lifestyle.

Miss America’s CEO Robin Fleming believes “Empowering women in America means making fitness and health a priority – we are excited to announce a multi-year partnership with Rebel Activewear in putting women’s fitness at the top of our ‘to do’ lists, showcasing our delegates fitness initiatives and inspiring all Americans to adopt healthier habits.”

The first preliminary competition on Tuesday evening, January 9th, 2024 will be followed by a special reception showcasing Rebel Athletic entitled ‘REBEL for A Cause’ and Rebel associates will be on hand to award the Rebel Fitness Awards to the three top scoring fitness winners.

The organization nationwide is ‘going red’ to celebrate its 3-year partnership with American Heart Association, and Rebel Activewear is the sole provider from local to state competitions of the signature red designs. Each local and state contestants has a wide variety of styles to select from, so that she can feel comfortable and yet fashionable on stage.
